Cajeput is a warming & stimulating essential oil. Out of all the pungent oils in my medicine box, this is one of the most potent ways to heat tissue and relieve muscle pain. Raynaud’s syndrome is a condition that causes extreme vasoconstriction of the peripheral blood vessels due to hyperactivation of the sympathetic nervous system. It is often triggered by the cold and stress. The slightest change in temperature used to cause anxiety for me. Going in the grocery store in the height of summer would cause my lips to turn blue and my fingers and toes would turn white. I often dilute this oil in the winter with a salve, applying it to my hands, wrists and neck before heading outside. It really works in warming up my tissue and preventing my blood vessels from narrowing.
It is also known for its ability to help transform damp in the interior and draw yang Qi up. An acute asthma attack, a productive cough, and viral or bacterial lung infections can clear up faster by diffusing this oil in your home or office.
Psychologically, Cajeput is uplifting and invigorating, helping with short-term memory and concentration problems. It can also be used to shift one’s attention from a negative mindset to a more positive one. For more information on what acupressure point to use this amazing clarifying oil on see my Governing Vessel 20 blog.
It is a very strong oil so if you want to tone it down, it combines really well with lavender, creating a softer effect.
